On the 28 August 2010, we played a friendly match against our seniors. We played with passion but lost narrowly by a score of 3-2. We started the game well, scoring early thanks to a good finish by Andrew Lai. However, the seniors came back, scoring twice to make the score 2-1. We fought hard and eventually managed to equalize after our striker Chee Choong capitalized on a mistake by their keeper. However, the seniors played better than us and scored a last-minute goal which sealed victory for them 3-2. We were hoping to win this match but unfortunately didn’t do well enough to do so. Even though we lost, there were several learning points to take note from the match.

1. Transition in Shape

Transition from attack to defense Compact shape
Transition from defense to attack Spread out, Width and depth

2. Goal-side defending

Always defend goal-side of an opponent.

3. ‘Covering player’

The covering player should position himself so that he can challenge the opponent once the defender has been beaten
