ACJC vs Tampines COE U-18

2: Hafiz tries to find Jacob with a lobbed through ball, but puts too much power in it even for the legs of a tiger.
3: Primary-school-defending by Tampines results in Pradeep receiving the ball 5m from goal, but somehow, he hits it wide. This shot would be contrary to the performance he delivers later on in the game.
5: Freekick for ACJC, Jacob steps up. Malicious ball behind the defence, but an unwilling ACJC attack force just lets it slip by.
6: Just another one of Lester's hard-hitting goalkick finds Yao's head, who flicks it behind the last line of the opponents defence. Choong got on his bike, sprinted forward and with only a stranded keeper to beat, chips it over him to find the net.
11: Vasu and Isaac get sucked in by a Tampines midfielder, who then plays a sweet ball for the left winger to cut in, beat Preston and shoot. No worries for Lester because the shot is wide.
19: A timely interception by Ryan enables him to pass the ball to Jacob down the left flank, who finds the Messi in him, dribbles past one, past two, and slots it where he wants to. Talk about flare.
23: Lackadaisical defending in the box by ACJC ALLOWS the ball to fall for a Tampines striker, who tries to chip Lester, but fails.
24: Corner from Jacob finds the head of an onrushing Pradeep, who gets the ball in the right direction, but too high to trouble the keeper.
27: Corner from Jacob finds Hafiz's head, but once again, couldn't direct it goalwards.
30: Dangerous pass by Tampines' goalkeeper goes straight to Yao's feet, who takes far too long to capitalize on a goalkeeper in no man's land.
35: Choong breaks out of the opponent's defence line and does a creative backheel-flick to a speedy Yao, who cuts in on his favourite left foot, takes a bit too long, but eventually shoots and scores.
36: Opponents hit the post after some terrible defending by ACJC'S backline ALLOWS the ball to travel goalside of them.
44: Tyco goal from a freekick by Brendan Liang. Enough said.

HALF-TIME

47: Pradeep finds Yao with a throughball despite being down on the floor. Yao was found to be offside.
51: Terrible composure displayed by Tampines' defender when he tries to pass the ball back to his keeper, but instead plays it goalwards. Choong gets on his scooter(not bike), but cannot slot the ball into an open net.
5 3: Vasu's misplaced pass find a Tampines midfielder, who plays an enticing through ball to his striker. The striker takes a shot at first glance, but the guardian of ACJC'S goal take charge of the situation, and makes a save at full stretch.
57: Great interpassing by Tampines midfield force, resulting in open space for one of them to take a shot from 35 yards out. Far too high for the football grounds, spectators thought they were at a rugby match for a while.
69: Thunderbolt of a shot from Kayue hits the post.
72: Preston makes the decision to move out of the line in an attempt to win the first ball, but fails himself. The ball then lands up with a Tampines striker who is up against Brendan Liang with his teammate in support waiting to lash onto a through ball. The through ball is eventually played past a stranded Brendan, but the shot is too high.
75: Threatening ball across the goalpost which tests the capability of the Tampines defence reaches Kayue's zone, but he fails to get on the end of it. But did he even want to?
83: Lester tried to play the ball with his defence, but a bad decision on his part gifts the ball to a Tampines striker. After the defence was put under pressure for a while, Tampines midfielder eventually fired a shot from just outside the box. Lester tries to make a save, but even Casillas can't stop balls heading towards the right top corner.
90: Nifty footwork by Tampines' right midfielder puts him in a good position to cross. The ball finds the head of a poorly marked striker, who heads the ball home.

FULL-TIME

ACJC 4-2 Tampines

POINTS TO NOTE!!!
1. Our defence needs to stop overworking the central midfielder by pushing up as fast as they can after clearing the ball upfield. This was identified as a major problem by Mr Arasu and he wants it solved immediately.
2. Our players cannot stop thinking just because they are tired. It was evident that the opponents were ALLOWED to play with the ball because many of us were not thinking anymore. This is unacceptable if we want to be contenders. Notice how the 2 goals from Tampines came in the dying minutes of the game.
3. The bench should have no say in the performance of individuals on the field. The bench should only encourage if they want to, but other than that, it is advised to keep quiet and let the players on the field handle the situation.
4. When a players is newly introduced as a substitute, it is the job of the players on the pitch to settle him down and get him in the game. For example, if a new right back takes over, the defence line has to communicate with him and tell him what to do so that he gets in the flow of the game. This cannot be the job of Mr Arasu and Mr Ong. Substitutes should also bear in mind that it is their responsiblity to talk to other players and ask if in doubt of their actions. Substitutes are put on to change the game and bring it to the next level.
